Rhonda Bell-Wallace

Rhonda Bell-Wallace is a wife and mother of two awesome, young men.  She has served in the field of education for over 20 years. During this journey, Rhonda has been a classroom teacher, campus and district literacy specialist, and an independent literacy consultant. However, in all of her endeavors, her greatest joy has been serving students who struggle with reading.  She believes that all students should have access to a literate lifestyle and that belief has led her to the Reading Academies. Rhonda’s work with the Reading Academies will allow her to continue to support students while serving teachers. She is so excited about this adventure and looks forward to new learning experiences!

Kadoria Burgess

As a second language learner of Spanish, Kadoria Burgess understands the challenges and joys of biliteracy. Having served as a general education, bilingual, and dual-language teacher, Grade Level Administrator, and English as a Second Language (ESL) Coordinator as well as obtaining her master’s in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies has prepared her well for her current roles as an Instructional Content Coach and Reading Academy Cohort Leader at ESC Region 11. She is very passionate about education and the necessity to support students in becoming literate (hopefully bi-literate as well) citizens of the world that also love reading. She also wears many other hats as a wife to a wonderful husband, stepmother to two beautiful girls, guardian of her creative niece, and mother to a very precocious little boy.

Jordan Dunn

Jordan Dunn has been fascinated with the art and science of teaching children how to read since the beginning of her career in education.  She couldn’t be happier to serve you throughout your Reading Academies 11 journey.  Her experience entails serving several districts in multiple roles including teacher, RTI coordinator, literacy/dyslexia specialist, and instructional coach.  Jordan received a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, Literacy Studies, from the University of Texas Arlington and strives to continue her professional learning every day at ESC Region 11.  Jordan’s passion for superior, equal literacy instruction for all children, regardless of income and race, is fueled by evidence of its significance in shaping individuals into those that contribute to a fruitful economy.  In addition to literacy, she adores animals, the outdoors, music, and is devoted to her soon-to-be family of five!

Elena Guerrero

Elena Guerrero is an Instructional Content Consultant and Coach at ESC Region 11. She is very excited to also serve as a Reading Academies Cohort Leader! Elena started her career as a bilingual teacher in Fort Worth ISD where she taught Pre-K and 2nd grade. Then she moved to Birdville ISD where she taught 4th grade. While in Birdville ISD, she also had the privilege of serving teachers as a Literacy Coach and as a Dual Language/ESL Coach. In her most recent past experience, Elena served as an ELA and Social Studies Coordinator for Castleberry ISD. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Texas Wesleyan University her certifications include Principal EC - 12, Reading Specialist EC - 12, Master Reading Teacher EC - 12, and Bilingual Generalist EC - 4. She is an advocate for all students, especially students that are English learners or students with reading difficulties. As a doctoral candidate at Texas Wesleyan University, her research focus is on identifying instructional methods that support all students in literacy instruction. Her personal mission statement is to: “Empower educators by providing an innovative approach to instruction and serving as a liaison between theory and practice in order to ensure students receive a personalized educational experience”. Elena is eager and ready to work with you this coming school year to provide you the support and the tools necessary to successfully complete the Texas Reading Academies!

Rachel Hart

Rachel Hart is thrilled to be joining the Region 11 Service Center as a Literacy Cohort Leader. Primary literacy is her “jam." Rachel’s proudest moments are watching children develop into strong, confident readers. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Derrick, hanging in the bleachers at baseball games cheering on her son Dane, and watching her daughter Kennedy spike some volleyballs over the net.

Bekah Harris

Bekah Harris is excited to serve you as the Reading Academies 11 Regional Project Manager. Before coming to ESC Region 11, Bekah provided support for literacy instruction as an elementary classroom teacher, literacy coach, collegiate adjunct instructor, district curriculum coordinator, and TEA Reading Excellence and Academies Development (READ) Grant Manager. 

Bekah received her M.Ed in Reading from the University of Central Oklahoma and is currently pursuing her Ed.D in Organizational Leadership and Change Management from the University of Southern California. In her spare time, she loves to visit her family across the Red River, read, shop, watch Sooner football, and spend time with her two dogs, Tod and Max.

Bekah's passion is effective organizational change that positively impacts student outcomes and school culture. She is excited to work with you to develop and implement an individualized plan to meet HB3 Reading Academies requirements in your district.

Dawn Hogan-Lopez

Dawn Hogan-Lopez has always believed that public school has the power to positively influence change in the world by delivering the best education to every child.  She has committed 22 years to be a part of that mission as a teacher, campus leader (Principal, Assistant Principal, and Instructional Coordinator), as well as a district leader. Additionally, she believes that literacy is a great equalizer, which is why Dawn has led and supported early literacy initiatives throughout her career as an educator. She is truly passionate about equity, social justice in schools, leadership, and most importantly, literacy, which makes being a Cohort Leader a dream job for her! 

Dawn is married to a super great guy named Marc and they share their life and love with 14-year-old son Julian, who is about to be a freshman.  They also share their home with a Golden Retriever named Massimo, a Great Pyrenees named Zena, and a cat named Cinder. The Lopez family are proud Aggies, so faith, family, football (and dogs) sums up the Lopez Crew. Finally, Dawn is a happy person who loves people, learning, teaching, reading, traveling, and experiencing new things. She is so excited and cannot wait to meet you and embark on this journey together!

Paola Pineda-Flechas

Paola Pineda’s love for biliteracy is widely known. Her love for her students has motivated her to advocate and promote educational excellence and equity through biliteracy education. Her personal experience as an immigrant from Colombia and as an English language learner has helped her to support teachers with evidence-based reading and writing instructional practices for linguistically and culturally diverse children. Her roles in education have included experience as a bilingual/ESL teacher, bilingual specialist, instructional coach, curriculum developer, and professional development specialist.  Paola has presented at the local and state level on a variety of topics related to first and second language acquisition, biliteracy development, and instructional strategies for English learners. Paola is working towards her master’s degree in Bilingual and Dual Language Education from the University of St. Thomas.

Rebecca Putman

In addition to her role as a Reading Academy Cohort Leader, Rebecca Putman, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction at Tarleton State University’s Fort Worth campus, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on literacy to preservice and in-service teachers. She is a former elementary classroom teacher, reading specialist and has experience in deaf education and general education classrooms. Her passion for literacy instruction and the science of teaching reading is rooted in the belief that literacy is the foundation for all educational success. She lives in Mansfield with her husband, three teenagers, and an ornery terrier.

Joanna Ratliff

Joanna Ratliff has been in education for 26 years and is the Early Literacy Coordinator in Keller ISD. Joanna supports the implementation of Reading Academies in Keller and is a Blended Facilitator for Reg. XI. She believes strongly that by providing a strong foundation of reading and spelling, the trajectory of children’s lives can be changed forever. She has been married for 27 years and has two amazing, adult children. She spends her time with her family which includes a rambunctious dog.
