Physical Education

  • The Comprehensive School Health program encourages school districts to promote physical activity in students, parents, faculty, and staff by offering staff development in physical education and coordinated school health. Through the Department of Special Education, resources are offered in the area of adaptive physical education.

  • Texas Education Agency (TEA) - Fitnessgram

Given the systemic closure of schools resulting from the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the governor has used his authority under Texas Government Code, §418.016 to suspend the physical fitness assessment of students (TEC, §38.101) and the reporting of those results (TEC, §38.103) for the 2019-2020 school year. This information was posted on TEA’s COVID-19 Support and Guidance website in the Assessment section on March 27, 2020.

The COVID-19 Support and Guidance website was established to provide information and resources for Texas school districts and schools. Please use this website as your initial source for information. Guidance will be provided on an ongoing basis as information and updates become available.
