Reading Academies 11 Registration Process

Texas Reading Academies logo

ESC Region 11 launches cohorts in September and June.

When districts are ready to enroll teachers in a cohort, they must complete the Participant Enrollment Request form. Upon receiving the request form, ESC Region 11 will have the authorized provider create a tracker and send it to the district contact.

Once the district contact receives the tracker, please enter the name, email address, campus, and pathway for each teacher to be enrolled. Entering this participant information secures a spot for the teacher.

The deadlines to register participants, using the above request form, are as follows:

  • June 2025 Cohort – deadline: April 15, 2025
  • September 2025 Cohort – deadline: July 15, 2025

Implementation Options

Districts can opt to contract with an Authorized Provider for both logistical and content support, or implement locally. Whichever you select, teachers will be enrolled in Comprehensive (in-person) content. Administrators still have the option to enroll in Blended (online) content through ESC Region 16.

Any district implementing locally must work with Reading Academies 11 to ensure that all Cohort Leaders hired by the district have passed the TEA Cohort Leader screening process. For more information on the screening process, please visit the TEA Cohort Leader Screening Process webpage. In addition, the Texas Education Agency will reopen the Authorized Provider application in December of 2020. At that point, your district can apply to serve as your own Authorized Provider.

More information about this process can be found on the TEA Reading Academies webpage.

Content Options to Consider by Role

Currently, there are three content tracks from which to choose. During the preregistration process, you will be asked to share how you plan to implement Reading Academies in your district and to list the number of teachers you plan to enroll in each content track.

  1. English Language Arts: Designed for teachers who provide instruction in English; special emphasis in English Language acquisition is woven throughout this material.

  2. Spanish Language Arts: Designed for teachers who provide instruction in Spanish. (Content is facilitated in English but provides specific information related to Spanish literacy acquisition. In addition, videos and student work samples will be provided in Spanish.)

  3. Administrator: Designed for participants in leadership roles. (This content track follows the same scope and sequence of the previous tracks but provides the framing for the content from a site decision-making perspective. Administrators will also complete artifacts that are specific to their roles.)
    • NOTE: Due to the focused nature of the content, this track is only available through the ESC Region 16 Authorized Provider as a blended option.
