Mathematics Academies 11

ESC Region 11 is an authorized TEA provider for the Texas Mathematics Academies K–3, a statewide initiative designed to strengthen educator expertise in delivering effective, systematic, research based mathematics instruction.
Mathematics Academies 11 builds foundational understanding in fluency, problem solving, place value, whole number operations, and fractions, with instructional practices aligned to the science of learning.
TEA will launch the statewide pilot of Texas Math Academies K-3 in the 2026–27 school year, with ESC Region 11 hosting multiple cohorts to support local LEAs through the blended learning program.
This 30-hour initiative consists of five modules delivered via face-to-face, synchronous, and asynchronous sessions. To maximize impact, cohorts are strategically organized around specific district grade bands and scheduling needs.
Educators will deepen their expertise in core mathematical concepts such as fluency, number sense, whole number operations, place value, and fractions. The curriculum integrates evidence-based instructional strategies and science-of-learning-aligned pedagogy to provide practical problem-solving strategies. By the end of the program, participants will be able to apply grade-level content effectively to drive student success.
To comply with the requirements of House Bill 2, the following roles must complete the Texas Mathematics Academies by the 2030–31 school year:
- K–3 mathematics teachers
- Principals and assistant principals
- Mathematics instructional coaches
- Interventionists serving grades K–3
Request Cohort Placement
ESC Region 11 is now accepting district and campus requests to begin placement for the 2026–27 pilot year. Space is limited, and placement will be prioritized based on request date and district needs.
Districts should submit requests to help plan cohort sizes, scheduling windows, and grade band configurations.
Professional Learning & Resources
Grades 4 & 5: Texas Mathematics Academies Deep Dives
Texas Mathematics Academies Deep Dives are optional professional learning experiences for grades 4 and 5, designed to deepen teacher knowledge and strengthen instructional practices using research based, systematic approaches. These sessions help educators build students’ problem solving skills and develop strong number sense and fluency.
- Grade 4: Whole and rational number addition and subtraction; multiplication and division of whole numbers; fraction concepts
- Grade 5: Whole and rational number addition and subtraction; multiplication and division with whole and rational numbers; fraction operations
Each deep dive series consists of 18 hours of in-person instruction spread across three days. If your district is interested in bringing this learning to your staff, please reach out to the program facilitator, Caitlin Cook, at ccook@esc11.net.
