Chapter 37
Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code (TEC) addresses safe schools, student discipline, and behavior management.
The 83rd Legislature, House Bill 1952, required administrators to complete professional development at least every three years in the area of discipline related to Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code.
The purpose of this course is to ensure that you have the knowledge needed to implement the requirements in the Texas Education Code regarding discipline, including new legislation impacting Chapter 37. In order to support your understanding, this course provides information about critical components of Chapter 37, including student discipline and alternative settings for behavior management. This course also provides information on special requirements and considerations for students with disabilities.
