T-PESS
Texas Principal Evaluation and Support System (T-PESS)
The state evaluation system for principals is the Texas Principal Evaluation and Support System (T-PESS). This system is designed around research-based best practices among school administrators and promotes a growth mindset, reflection, and setting/sustaining professional goals.
The T-PESS principal rubric was updated in 2020, requiring a half-day training update for all active appraisers. As of 2021, only the updated T-PESS rubric and appraiser certification are valid under Texas Education Code §21.3541. If you missed the update, please register for the full one-day training to re-certify.
Additionally, an assistant principal rubric is also available for principals and others who appraise APs.
