Regional School Board of the Year
The Alvarado ISD school board has been selected as the 2026 Region 11 (north central Texas) winner of the School Board Awards program, sponsored by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA).
ESC Region 11 is proud to announce that the Alvarado ISD Board of Trustees has been selected as the 2026 Region 11 School Board of the Year. The district’s board will now advance as the Region 11 nominee for the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) School Board Awards program and will be considered for the state-level honor.
Established by TASA in 1971, the School Board Awards program recognizes school boards that demonstrate outstanding leadership, ethical governance, and an unwavering commitment to student success. Each nominated board is evaluated on its governance practices, support for academic achievement, financial stewardship, ethical standards, and community engagement.
Superintendents nominate their boards by submitting a comprehensive application highlighting board accomplishments across 10 key areas, including policy leadership, instructional support, professional development, and dedication to student welfare. A panel of area superintendents reviews all submissions and selects the regional honoree.
The Alvarado ISD Board of Trustees was recognized for its commitment to serving scholars, supporting educators, and leading with vision and purpose. Through strategic leadership and a focus on continuous improvement, the board has helped create opportunities that positively impact scholars, staff, and the broader Alvarado community.
As the Region 11 representative, Alvarado ISD now joins 19 other regional winners from across Texas. From this group, TASA will select five Honor Boards, with one ultimately being named the 2026 Texas Outstanding School Board. All regional winners and state finalists will be recognized during the TASA/TASB Convention this October.
