ESC Region 11 is proud to announce that the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees has been selected as the 2025 Region 11 School Board of the Year. The district’s board will now advance as the Region 11 nominee for the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) School Board Awards program and will be considered for the state-level honor.

Established by TASA in 1971, the School Board Awards program recognizes school boards that exhibit exceptional leadership, ethical service, and a deep commitment to student success. Each nominated board is evaluated on its governance practices, support for academic improvement, ethical standards, financial stewardship, and community engagement.

Superintendents nominate their boards for the award by submitting a detailed application highlighting board activities across 10 areas of focus, such as policy leadership, instructional support, professional development, and prioritizing student welfare. A selection panel of area superintendents reviews all submissions to determine the regional honoree.

Northwest ISD’s board now joins 19 other regional winners from across Texas. From this group, TASA will name five Honor Boards, and one will be selected as the 2025 Texas Outstanding School Board. All finalists will be honored at the TASA/TASB Convention this September.
