GoLead11 Prepares Principals for Real Leadership

For many educators, the desire to lead begins quietly, an idea sparked during a team meeting, a school initiative, or a moment when a colleague leans over and says, “You’d make a great administrator.” But knowing how to begin the journey to school leadership can feel overwhelming.

That’s where GoLead11, the Principal Certification Program at ESC Region 11, steps in. Built intentionally around the realities of full-time educators, it offers a flexible, supportive, and thoughtful pathway into campus leadership. With applications closing on Monday, December 1, aspiring leaders across Texas still have a final opportunity to join the next cohort or look ahead to the following one.

A Program Designed for Working Educators
GoLead11’s design reflects a deep understanding of the day-to-day life of educators. The program blends online coursework with live virtual learning sessions held in the summer and on select Saturdays throughout the school year. This hybrid format provides candidates with structure and interaction without requiring them to be pulled away from their classrooms or families.

“Educators shouldn’t have to put their lives on hold to grow as leaders,” said Robyn Campbell, the program specialist who leads the cohorts. She shared that many candidates choose GoLead11 specifically because they can pursue certification without relocating, rearranging their schedule, or sacrificing personal commitments.

Each year, two cohorts, one beginning in January and one in June, move through the one-year experience together, building a tight-knit network of future administrators.

Preparation That Goes Beyond Certification
One of the distinguishing features of GoLead11 is its focus on equipping educators not only to earn a certification but also to lead confidently from day one. Candidates receive comprehensive training aligned to the realities of campus leadership, including instructional coaching, staff evaluation, data-driven decision-making, and building positive school culture.

In addition to the Principal as Instructional Leader certification, participants also earn T-TESS and AEL certifications at no additional cost, credentials that many first-year administrators say become invaluable quickly. This added value makes GoLead11 one of the most robust and affordable leadership programs in the state.

Campbell noted that the program’s strength lies in its practical approach, with select sessions facilitated by seasoned leaders in the field and expert specialists here at Region 11. Their real-world experience helps candidates connect theory to practice in meaningful, actionable ways. Coursework is designed by educators who have served as teachers, instructional specialists, assistant principals, and principals, ensuring that every module feels grounded in real experience.

High-Touch Support From Start to Finish
A defining feature of GoLead11 is the personalized, high-touch support candidates receive at every stage of the journey. From gathering required documents to navigating coursework and assessments, the GoLead11 team walks participants through the process with consistent communication and individualized guidance.

Campbell emphasized that this support doesn’t end once certification is complete. Candidates are encouraged to remain connected to Region 11, where networking opportunities and professional relationships often open doors to future roles. “Several candidates have asked about hiring pipelines,” she shared, “and those conversations naturally grow out of the connections formed here.”

With purposeful progress monitoring and authentic guidance, candidates graduate not only with the certifications they need, but also with the confidence and relationships that help launch them into leadership positions.

Accessible, Affordable, and Open to Educators Across Texas
Eligibility requirements for GoLead11 are clearly defined, ensuring that candidates enter the program prepared for success. Educators must hold a master’s degree, a valid Texas teaching certificate, and two years of creditable teaching experience (with the second year allowed to be in progress). A minimum 3.0 GPA, district approval, and a short writing sample are required to complete the application process.

Teachers and administrators from ISDs, charter schools, and private schools are eligible to apply, regardless of whether they currently serve within Region 11. With a $6,000 program fee and flexible monthly payment options, GoLead11 provides one of the most cost-effective pathways to certification available in Texas.

A Launchpad for Aspiring Leaders
As the application deadline approaches, Campbell encourages educators to consider their next steps. Many successful principals began the process with hesitation, wondering if they were ready or if they could balance the work, but found that the structure and support of GoLead11 made the journey not only manageable but deeply rewarding.

For educators who feel that spark of leadership, the GoLead11 Principal Certification Program offers a path that is accessible, supportive, and built around real school experience. More importantly, it offers a community of peers and mentors who are invested in seeing each candidate succeed.

Now is the time to take that next step. Applications for the January cohort close on Monday, December 1. Applications for the June cohort are now available! Learn more and apply today.
