During the TASA Midwinter Conference, the Commissioner of Education, Robert Scott, delivered an inspiring speech filled with compassion regarding the issues educators and our children experience with our current and future accountability system. He discusses future directions for the state's education system, and makes reference to the Visioning Institute, including the challenges ahead for the 82nd Texas Legislature in addressing the needs of public education, as well as the expectations for students, campuses, and districts to meet significantly higher performance expectations in 2012. The commissioner also provided updates on policy implications for the stimulus and stabilization funds, school accountability, school finance, and teacher incentives.
This is a must-see video to really appreciate the commissioner’s understanding of the “real world of Texas public education” and the support he has for service centers. I strongly encourage you to view the commissioner’s speech, and afterwards share your thoughts in the comments area below.
