    ESC Region 11 provides professional development, technical assistance, and other related supportive services to programs serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ages birth to 22. ESC Region 11 helps local education agencies meet the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing across the continuum of placement options.

    Technical Assistance and Staff Development

    Assistance is provided to the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RDSPD), local education agencies, parents, teachers, university students, audiologists, diagnosticians, paraprofessionals, speech-language pathologists, supervisors, administrators, and other personnel working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

    Technical assistance and staff development services are available in the following categories:

    • Age and individually appropriate instructional methodologies
    • Curriculum development and modification
    • Early childhood intervention and deaf and hard of hearing technical assistance
    • Parent Infant Advisor Teachers/early intervention
    • Teachers of students who are deaf and hard of hearing
    • Federal and state rules and regulations
    • Liaison between schools and other service agencies
    • Resources for teachers of students who are deaf or hard of hearing, audiologists, diagnosticians, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing
    • University professional preparation program

    Staff Development Opportunities Include:

    • On-site training
    • Regional workshops
    • Regional meetings for RDSPD supervisors and itinerant teachers of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
