Texas Mathematics and Science Diagnostic System
(TMSDS)
The Texas Mathematics and Science Diagnostic System (TMSDS) is a web-based, TEKS-aligned diagnostic assessment system that covers grades 3-8 in mathematics and science as well as Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Integrated Physics and Chemistry, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. TMSDS provides password-protected online student test-taking and other assessment security options. It is provided free of charge to Texas public and charter schools by the Texas Education Agency.
With TMSDS, educators gain fast, easy, and regular access to diagnostic data on students’ progress in order to accurately adapt instruction and utilize resources to meet student needs. TMSDS replaces the Texas Mathematics Diagnostic System (TMDS) and the Texas Science Diagnostic System (TSDS) with several improvements built into the new, combined system. The following features are included in TMSDS:
- An expanded item bank that reflects an overall increase in the number of mathematics and science items
- Three pre-configured, TEKS-aligned diagnostics per grade level
- 35 TEKS-aligned quizzes per grade
- The addition of grade 3 items and diagnostics in science
- English and Spanish diagnostics and quizzes
- Online mathematics skill resources for teachers, students, and parents
- Expanded teacher reporting
- Expanded administrator reporting, including demographic breakdowns
- Ability to pre-load classes with student names at the district level
