Region 11 Technology Planning Update - 9/17/2009
eRate Year 13

  • eRate Year 12 -- 77 districts wrote new plans or updated plans
  • e-Plan lists 93 districts in Region 11, including charter schools
    • 34 plans will need to be updated
    • 59 plans will need to be submitted and reviewed
    • So we will need reviewers for approximately 148 reviews
Reminder:  ALL district technology plans need to be submitted for approval or updated EVERY year.

From TPESC: Timeline Guidance

This is our suggested timeline for completing STaR Charts and Technology Plans as they relate to E-Rate:

1.     Complete Teacher STaR Chart – beginning of school

2.     Complete Campus STaR Chart – after 100% of the teachers’ charts are completed but before filing technology plan in e-Plan

3.     Complete the Technology Plan in the e-Plan system before filing E-Rate Form 470/RFP

4.     Complete E-Rate Form 470/RFP – after STaR Charts are completed, the technology plan is up-to-date and 29 days before the close of the 471 window

Tech plans must:

• Be ‘created’ before Form 470/RFP submission. Created is also referred to as ‘draft’ or ‘written’.

• Cover all 12 months of the funding year

• Contain all five elements:

1)     Goals & Objectives

2)     Professional development

3)     Needs assessment

4)     Budget

5)     Evaluation

• Contain a sufficient level of detail to validate the E-Rate request in your Form 470/RFP

Your district’s technology plan will go through a regional peer review process and finally submitted  to TEA for approval.

As you can see from the above information, all dates are relative to filing for E-Rate funding. Therefore, your district may set dates to allow for ample time to complete the needs assessment tasks necessary to create your technology plan.

Non-erate deadline:
