Certification Programs
 

The Texas Leadership Cooperative (TLC) is a one-year program for aspiring superintendents leading to a state standard superintendent certificate. Highly qualified candidates are sought for participation in the program, which emphasizes the application of knowledge and skills in a problem-based learning approach. Training includes seminars delivered by practitioners in the field, field-based experiences, and monthly support through a mentor superintendent. Applications are accepted through April 1 each year. The Alliance for Educational Leadership (AEL) is a one-year principal preparation program available to candidates who have previously earned a master's degree. Participants hold a probationary principal certificate as they serve in campus-based administrative positions or internships during the school year or the second summer in the program. Field-based experiences and training are designed to develop proficiency in the SBEC standards and skills for the principalship. Applications are accepted through April 1 each year. The Instructional Leadership Collaborative (ILC) is a two-year program for individuals interested in obtaining principal certification and a master's degree from Tarleton State University. A cadre of individuals participates in field-based experiences developed around authentic challenges of the principalship. Participants may remain in the classroom while attending Saturday sessions at the ESC the first year. During the second year, participants serve in campus-based administrative positions or internships. This program encourages districts to engage in succession planning as they anticipate needs for future leaders. Applications are accepted through April 1 each year. The Principal Preparation Partnership Program (PPPP) is a two-year program. Education Service Center Region XI, in collaboration with Midwestern State University and regional school districts, prepare today's leaders for tomorrow's schools by helping districts develop principals through a two-year program. Interns obtain principal certification and a master's degree in Educational Administration through MSU via distance learning opportunities. Relevant training is provided through the program along with support of a mentor principal and Region XI program staff. During the first year of the program, individuals progress through university distance learning, which emphasizes the application of knowledge and skills relevant to the authentic challenges of administrative practice. During this time, interns fulfill specific campus leadership responsibilities and prepare for their internship. During the second year, interns are placed in campus-based administrative positions or internships. Certain duties/experiences are required in order to be consistent with the Principal Preparation Partnership Program objectives and to allow for the development of skills necessary for the principalship. The Teacher Preparation Program (TPP) is a fifteen-month teacher preparation program for individuals interested in becoming certified teachers. Candidates must meet all entry criteria and will then participate in a field-based program with intensive training, including a year-long paid internship as teacher of record or a semester-long non-paid clinical teaching experience. There are now three cohort training groups:  Spring Training and Summer Training are intended for individuals to be eligible to teach in the fall. Fall training is limited and will be held in the fall on Tuesday and Thursday evenings to be eligible to teach in the spring or the following school year. The Master Technology Teacher (MTTC) is a 12-week course of study entirely online. Educators may attend from anywhere they have Internet and World Wide Web access. The program consists of two online courses, each six weeks in duration, and completion of four peer mentoring field-based experiences. The prerequisite MTTC pre-preparation online course assesses prior technology applications knowledge and skills to ensure that the participant has a working knowledge of video editing, Web page creation, digital graphics, and animation related to the Technology Applications knowledge and skills of the MTT standards. An MTT certificate is obtained by successfully completing the program and passing the SBEC certification examination (TExMaT). The program is offered several times during the school year.
